WADE'S JOURNAL
March 28th. Day at Paradise trails... Even Robbie Miranda would be impressed with these trails. This was my first time here and I had a lot of fun. Lots of jumps and all types, steep, tight, big, small, and nice runs to where you can keep on going as long as you can.
There was a good crowd of us out there as the guys are getting ready for the BMX National's in a few weeks. Of course this meant Kama Kazi was there but he forgot to bring his protective gear.
March 23rd. Just received some shots from John Laptad from training camp. Now you can see the new Trek/VW team and colors for 2004.
March 20th. A few weeks back I was asked if I could attend the Telstra 1000 Open BMX race which was held in my original home town of Toowoomba. Lucky enough, I was just arriving back in time from training camp so I could attend this race meeting. David Buddan from Toowoomba started getting things rolling with all types of media for the promotion of the race meeting. He had it all going, the papers, TV, radio and also organized a bike shop visit to the local Trek Dealer. With all this media attention I was reunited with a lot of old friends and racers that no longer compete. It sure has been a long time between gathering's in Toowoomba. First
I went to Bikeline to do a shop visit, I got to hang out with the crew for a while
and handed out a few stickers and signed posters for the customers. I also got
to meet Mike from the coffee shop next door who whipped up and brought me in a
smoothie. Thanks again, it was great. Bikeline had it all going on with there
new decked out bike shop, it was a great store with great products and a really
great staff. Nice work guys.
I then went for a quick drive around Toowoomba and went down memory lane. Not to much has changed but it was really cool to see it all again. After that I headed over to the BMX track where everything was all set up for tonight's Big Race. I had the WadeBootes.com Motor Home all set up with the JBL Stereo System blasting and also the Touareg on display from VW. I was then asked to open the race meeting with the Mayor of Toowoomba to get the show started. The track was a lot of fun and created a lot of great racing. It took me a few laps to get used to my bike again as I have not raced BMX in while. I soon got back in the groove and started winning my moto's and eventually the final. The race was also organized to be filmed for TV and also had the support from the News Papers. With the great support from the local community, council and the sporting department, I can see Toowoomba BMX becoming one of the best tracks and venues in the Nation.
March 17th. Just
arrived home from Training camp and the first Norba Cross Country National in
Waco, Texas. I did not take many photos but have some on the way. Camp was quick
this year and we received most of our bikes and clothes. By Sea Otter Classic
we will be all dialed in for the year. I ended up bring a lot of stuff back with
me and the best thing was my new Madone Trek Road Bike. I went to go for a ride
in the afternoon and noticed it was damaged while traveling back on the plane.
I was so bummed as this was my first ever high end road bike and I could not even
ride it. Feb
