Brooklyn
out and about at 9 weeks old

Brooklyn
now 8 weeks old.
Every day is a new experience and a
memorable moment when having a baby. For sure it is frustrating at times and your
freedom is not available as it used to be, but the small reactions and the little
smiles he gives me is all worth it. Its true I can't wait to where he can hold
his own bottle and burp himself and walk, run, ride his way around, but I am taking
every moment in as I realize he will be soon out the door heading to school as
it seems these past 8 weeks have gone by so fast. I am going to take advantage
of this time to finally sit back and smell the roses and enjoy these precious
times.

King
of the Mountain World Champion
This
past weekend was the 3rd and final round of the Jeep King of the Mountain World
Championships, held in Austin Texas and filmed for CBS. After flying in from Australia
Thursday and practice held on Friday, Wade was keen to get back into the racing
scene on Sunday after having a break due to the recent birth of his new born son,
Brooklyn. The course was mostly flat and required a lot of pedaling power, with
a few difficult jumping sections. Eclipse Television has been putting on some
great events and getting the media coverage that our sport deserves and with the
100% professional set up at all races makes this the best race series. With a
total of $100,000 dollars of prize money and a 2 year lease of a Jeep Liberty
Limited for the overall winner makes this series the one to be in. Wade won the
overall Team Series last year with fellow country mate Katrina Miller and both
had this individual series on top of their goals for the year. Here is how the
final event and overall title unfolded.
Coming into the final race, all
Wade needed to do is finish one spot in front of Mike King and the overall title
was his. King was knocked out of the semi final by Brian Schmitt and all Wade
needed to do is follow the current UCI World Champion around the course in his
semi as he had won the first round by 0.47 of a sec. In the second run he was
hot on Eric's heals but was not able to jump the final double and finished 0.51
behind which put Eric into the final with Brian and Wade into the loser final
with series leader Mike King. Now for the show down for the title chase.
Wade
had won the first run against King and also was leading the second round into
the first corner. King went to high low Wade and hit his back wheel and caused
both to crash. Wade was first on his bike and struggle to get to the line in first
when he then found out that 5 spokes were ripped out of his rear wheel during
the crash. As Wade had won the race for 3rd for the day and having King finish
4th, this then made it a tie for the overall Series. Instead of going on a count
back and handing the title over to Wade right then and there, they decided to
have a run off/tie breaker race between King and Bootes to decide the overall
winner. With Wade having a back wheel all out of commission and no spare or race
team support, this was going to see Wade having to forfeit the Tie Breaker and
handing over the title to King. With over $20,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs,
Wade made the effort to ride another bike and not to give up. Wade ended up using
Lisa Sheers bike, who was competing in the female event for the weekend, quickly
changed over the pedals and did a few air pressure adjustments to the shocks and
tires to help better the performance of the small sized bike.
Wade rode
the bike from the pits to the start line to tried to take the win from King once
again for the day. Wade knew he was not able to out sprint King on a girls bike
but raced his heart out to the finish line. With a bike length behind and about
to cross the line Wade noticed that King had made the biggest mistake of his life,
he went through the wrong side of the finish line timer. If you started in the
right side in your first run of the two races you had to finish in the right side
at the finish to get your time recorded. With this big mistake from King, Wade
was then given a 0.75 advantage in the next run. All Wade had to do is stay on
Kings wheel and finish within 0.75 of a sec. Wade rode Lisa's bike to the best
he could and finished 0.2 of a sec behind King which gave the Tie breaker race
win to Wade.
After a tough and exciting race in the hot Texas weather,
Wade did not give up and came out the winner of the Jeep King of the Mountain
Series.
You can watch all the action this Sunday, Oct 10th on CBS after the
Football game.
