Wildman was in town for the Weekend so a bunch of us got together at my place and had a Bar BQ and went into town on the other night. Lyons was over here for the Australian Bike show where he raced his 20" in the 1st round of the Australian Mountain Cross series.

Oct 23

I flew home early from NZ this morning to get back to the Gold Coast to go watch the Indy and V8 racing. Thanks to PWR/SuperCheap race team and Paul Weel for getting us all access tickets for the day. It was a great day on the Coast and later that night we went out with the Team and some other drivers.

Oct 22

Papakura BMX Club was the host of Round 1 of the UCI Oceania World Ranking Series and the Australian Verse New Zealand Test Series in conjunction with the North Island Championships this past weekend in Auckland, New Zealand. With over 70 riders from Australia flying over to support the Senior Mens and Mighty Eleven Test Challenge, it was going to be a full weekend of competition between the 2 counties. The weather was cold and wet as it had been raining for a few days, but it did ease up during race day. The track was slow during the first half of the day but the track did dry up and made for some fast and exciting racing.

I started the Elite Mens Series off the same way I finished the last season by winning my moto's and semi final. In the main event things did not go as planned. I got the pop but lost it by the first jump which made me set up for a high low in the first corner. With riders going all over the place my front wheel was taken out and I fell down the second straight. The following corner Kamakazi went for a move and another 4 riders went down. Stevenson then had an easy run home to take the deserved win. With the crashed riders scrambling to get up, I was able to get back up and pass 2 riders. Jolliffe and Willers where the only other 2 riders left standing and finished 2nd and 3rd.

Thanks to Christine and family for hosting Alex and I for the weekend. Saturday night after the races we went down town in Auckland and had a nice meal and went up the Sky Tower.
